Neivanai: Swarnakateswarar Temple.



This place is about 15kms from Ulundoorpettai, Vizhupuram, TN. This is one of the Devara sthalam of Nadunadu.












Main Deity Swayambu Lingam known as Chandra Shekarar / Vennaiappar seen under Rudraaksha Pandal and his consort known as Neelamalar Kanni in standing posture. She resides in separate sanctum. Here in the temple Lord Siva is seen in the centre of Soolam as Urchavar Idol which denotes Ardanareeswara tathvam.








Adikara Nandi is seen with both palms together here.




During the month of Feb/ Mar (Masi Tamil month), Early morning sun rays falls on Lord Siva and we see change of different colours.



Sthala Vruksham is Punnai and Teertham is well water, which is in front of Ambaal sanctum.



Other deities seen in the temple as we go around the prakaram are Vara Siddhi Vinayakar, Murugan with Valli and Devani is seen seated on peacock, Kasi Viswanadhar, Visalakshi, Natarajar seen in separate sanctum, Navagraham, Chandeekeswarar and Bairavar.



Lord Vishnu is seen seated with Mahalaksmi with both her palms together, on his left lap as Lakshmi Narayanar. Their eyes are closed as if they are meditating.




Lord Siva Himself built a dam with paddy hence the place is known as Nelanai which later changed into Neivanai.



Thiru Gaynasambandhar, during his pilgrimage reached this place in the night. He had difficulty in tracing the path. Lord Siva asked Ambikai to guide Sambandhar to reach the temple. “She” met Sambandhar in nearby place, known as Ethalavadi. When he reached the temple, Sambandhar worshiped Lord Siva who gave a wonderful darshan for him. In excitement he danced and sang Hymns on Lord Siva. The idol of Gyana Sambandhar is beautiful in dancing form. Thirunavukkarasar and Sundarar are seen in the sanctum.




Sthala puranam: People of this region did not worship god because of their wealth and luxury. In order to teach them a lesson Varuna was asked to pour down as rain causing heavy disaster. Lakes and tanks began to breach. People started worshiping “God” to rescue them. Lord appeared as a youth and asked them to bring their paddy bags from their homes to build dam. They looked upon the youth as their saviour. He said “God” is the one who gives prosperity and they should be grateful to Him. He gave them pot full of Gold to recover their loss and disappeared. Lord appeared before them as Swayambu Lingam. They raised a temple for Lord and named him as Swarnakateswarar

Thiruvikramar Temple, Thiru koiloore, Vizhupuram.

Thiru koiloore: Thiruvikramar Temple.



The place Thiru koiloore is about 36 kms from Vizhupuram. This temple is one of the Divaya Desam temples of Nadu Nadu. This is one of the Pancha Krishna Kshetram. The other four are Thiru Kannamangai, Kapisthalam, Thiru kannagkudi, Thiru Kannapuram.







Main Raja Gopuram is of eleven tiers.








As we enter inside Garuda Kambam is seen in front.



Main deity is Swayambu Thiruvikramar of wood, in standing Posture with his right leg lifted up to side. Thayar of the temple is known as Poongkovai Nachiar. Lord Brahma is seen worshiping the feet raised up. Urchavar, here in this temple is known as Kovalan (Gopalan). There is a separate sanctum for Krishna made of Saligrama stone.



Sthala Vruksham is Punnai. Teertham is River Penna, Krishna Teertham, and Chakkra teertham.



It is Sri Chakkra Vimanam under which Lord Thiruvikarama perumal is seen in the sanctum. Other deities seen as we go around the prakaram are Venugopalan, Lakshmi Narayanan, Lakshmi Ragavan, Lakshmi Narashimar, Ramar, Veera Anjaneyar, Andal, Sukrachariyar and Swayambu Durgai.


Sthala puranam: King Mahabali performed a Yagam, with the guidance of Asura Guru Sukarachariyar so that he can be the first person in fame and status. Lord Vishnu wanted to destroy his ego and teach him a lesson. Lord Vishnu, came to Yagasala as a short person Vamana, and sought for three steps of his leg as Bhodanam from King Mahabali.
Guru Sukrachariar with his powers knew it was Lord Vishnu who is in the form of Vamana. So Guru prevented King from giving Land for Vamana. King Mahabali did not give ears to his Guru’s word and decided to give three foot of Land to Vamana. When he revealed his wish to give land to Vamana, Lord took Viswaroopam to claim three foot of Land. With His one leg the whole of earth was measured and the second step He measured space and asked the place to measure the third step. Now King Mahabali's ego left him and he requested Lord Vamana to place his leg on his head. When King Mahabali was about to pour water in the hands of Lord, Guru Sukracharya took the form of Bee and tried to stop the flow of water falling into Lord’s hands. Lord Vishnu with grass tried to clear the block. Guru Sukracharya lost his eyesight by the grass piercing his eyes. Lord by putting his foot on the head of Mahabali he was pushed down to Pathala Lokam. Since his ego was destroyed. In his extreme delight, to bless King Mahabali, Lord Vamana, appeared with conch in His left hand and Chakkra in His right hand, which is reverse to his Narashima Avatara to bless Prahaladha.Here, lord is also known as Ulgalandha Perumaal, which means one who measured the Universe.




Mrugandu Maharishi approached Lord Brahma to guide him to have the Viswaroopa Darshan of Lord Vishnu. Brahma suggested him to worship Lord Vishnu at Krishna Kshetra which is now known as Thiru koviloore on the banks of Krishnabadra River (River Penna). Maharishi with his wife Mitravathi started his penance.



Lord in guise as an old Brahamin appeared in front of them and asked for Biksha. They did not have any grain to offer the old Brahmin. Mitravathi at this point took bowl in hand and prayed to Lord Narayanar to fill the bowl with food if she was a good wife of Maharishi. The bowl was filled with food and Lord showed His Viswaroopa Darshan to the couple.




Once Poigai Azhwar visited this place and sought a place to rest at night as it was raining heavily. Later Boodhat Azhwar reached the same place to rest. The place was so small that one can sleep, two can sit and three can stand. Two Azhwars shared the place and sat together. After some time Peryazhwar also came to the same place to take rest. Now the two Azhwars shared the place with third Azhwar by, three of them standing. Suddenly they were squeezed and felt some fourth person joining them in the darkness. It was Lord himself who joined them and granted His darshan for all three Azhwars who sang Hymns on him in which they described the darshan of Lord was like a lamp to give light in the darkness. The three Azhwars attained Moksha in this place.




Nalayira Divya Prabandham sung by Azwars was started from this place. Vishnu Duragai is seen in the prakaram. Durga Matha is praised by Thirumangai Azhwar in one of her verses sung against Lord Vishnu.





Arakanda Nallore, Athulya Nadeswarar Temple, Vizhupuram.

Arakanda Nallore: Athulya Nadeswarar Temple.



This place Arakanda Nallore is about 2 kms from Thiru koiloore and 35 kms from Vizhupuram. This is one of the Nadu Nadu Devara sthalam. Previously the place was known as Arayani Nallore. The temple is on a hillock near the confluence of Gowthami River and River Penna.












The temple Raja gopuram is of seven tiers.




Sthala Vruksham is Vilvam and teertham is River Penna.








Main Deity is Swayambu Siva Lingam known as Athulya Nadhar / Oppila Maneeswarar facing west under Rudraksha mandapam. His consort known as Soundra Kanakambikai / Azhagiya Ponnamai in standing posture is seen in different sanctum. Goddess is holding Alli Flower in her left hand and Lotus flower in her right hand. The temple is considered to be Gyana Yoga Sakthi Peetam.



Nandi is seen facing slightly towards right side with his ears turned towards the main sanctum, as if, he is ready to hear, what Lord Siva says. Here he is known as Sevimadukkum Nandi Devar.
Adikara Nandi is seen slightly moved towards Left side. When Sambandhar came to this place the doors of temple, were shut by the followers of other religion and worship was totally stopped. Sambandhar sang Hymns about Lord Siva here, and the doors opened immediately and then onwards rituals were started again. Both Nandi and Adikara Nandi seen slightly moved to either sides with their face turned towards left and right side respectively, for Sambandhar to have a clear darshan of Lord Sri Athulya Nadhar.



Other deities seen in the temple are Swayambu Valampuri Vinayakar, Mutthu Kumarar seen with six hands, Vishnu seen with Pryoga Chakkram in his hand with Lakshmi Devi, Kati hastha Durgai, Jeshta Devi, Asithanga Bairavar, Chandeekeswarar, Saptha madhar, Saneeswarar and Navagraham. Saneeswarar in the navagraham sanctum is seen with his right leg placed on his vahanam crow. Biravar is seen without his vahan dog.

There is a sanctum for Ramana Maharishi in the temple.



Eesanar, Durvasar and Viswamitra Rishi wanted to learn thoroughly about Eswara sakthi. So they approached Hygragreevar who is supposed to be god for Gyanam. Lord Hyagreevar joined with them and approached Lord Murugan for Upadesam. When they went to Lord Murugan he took them to His mother Goddess Parvathy.



Mother Goddess blessed them and asked them to visit Krishnaranyam on Earth where confluence of Penna and Gowthami River happens. To the north bank of this place there is a Hillock with power of Gyana Sakthi. Goddess asked them to meditate in this place about Lord Sivato get good result. Lord Siva was impressed with their penance and appeared before them. Lord gave Upadesam about Veda Agama Nadham. Lord Siva’s Upadesam to them about the Nadham was so clear and precise; they addressed him as Sri Athi Tulya Nadha Eswarar, which over a period changed into Sri Athula Nadeswarar.








There is a sanctum for Annamalayarhere. Sambandharafter worshippingLord Siva here wanted to visit Thiruvanna malai and worship Annamalayaar. But it did not happen so, he thought of Annamalayaar and installed a Siva Lingam and worshipped Him. This sanctum is seen in-between Sri Athulya Nadhar Sanctum and Goddess Soundra Kanakambikai.











As we go around the temple, we see Foot prints of Sambandhar placed on a peetam in a place from where he worshipped Annamaliyaar and sang Hymns on Him.




Sthala Purana says Lord Vishnu worshiped Lord Siva in this pace to get rid of his dosha for destroying Mahabali. Goddess Lakshmi also came in search of Lord Vishnu to this place. Lord Siva appeared before them here.



Once a muni, by name Neelakantar visited Siva kshetrams, to get rid of his curse. On his way to Thiru Annamlai he took bath in River Penna and sat on the hillock. From place he was able to see Thiru Annamalai, so he decided to worship Lord Siva from this place. He started meditating in this place. Lord Siva was pleased with his worship, and appeared before him with his consort Parvathy, and blessed him to get rid of his curse. Neelakanta Muni prayed Lord Siva, to stay back in the place and bless mankind. Lord Siva is in Swyambu Lingam form known as Araiani Nadahar in this place.

Thirukoiloore, Veeratteswarar temple, Vizhupuram.

Thirukoiloore: Veeratteswarar temple.



The place is known as Andhaka puram, historically. Thirukoiloore is the city in Vizhupuram. This is one of the Devara Sthalam in Nadu Nadu Temples. The temple is one of the Attaveeratta Sthalam of Lord Siva.

As we enter inside the main door we see Dwajasthambam in front.



Main Deity is Swayambu Siva Lingam known as Veeratteswarar, with his consort known as Periya Nayaki / Sivananda Valli in different sanctum.

Sthala Vruksham is Sarakkondrai and Teertham known as River Penna.



Other Deities seen in the temple areVinayakar known as Periyanai Ganapathy, Shanmugar, Dakshina Moorthy, Vishnu Durgai and Chandeekeswarar.




Lord Shanmuga wanted to perform Siva Pooja to get rid of his sin, of destroying Demons. Mother Ambikai showed him the place where Vel from Her hand fell. Hence this place is known as Thiru Kai Vel. Lord Shanmuga performed Siva Pooja here. Arunagirinadhar sang Thirupugazh on Lord Murugan of this temple.










Saint Sundarara and King Cheramaan were going to Kailash. On their way they met Avvaiyar and told her, about their travel to Kailash to meet Lord Siva. Avvaiyar was performing pooja of Lord Ganesha at that time. They left her and proceded on their way to Kailash. Avvaiyar performed her pooja. She placed her request to Lord Vigneswara to fulfill her wish to visit Kailash. Lord Vigneswara took Viswaroopam and left Avvaiyaar her at Kailash even before Saint Sundarar and Cheramaan reached there.
Avvaiyaar sang Vinayakar Agaval on Lord Vigneswara of this temple. Hence the Vinayakar here is known as Periyanai Ganapathy.




With the efforts of Avvaiyaar and Poet Kapilar, marriage of Angavai and Sangavai, (daughters of King Pari Vallal) with King Deiveekan was celebrated in this place. Poet Kapilar lived in this place. There is a rock here known as Kapilar Hill, on which he was sitting. This is the birth place of two Nayanmars, Meiporul Nayanar and Narasinga munairayar.










Sthala Purana says Lord Siva destroyed Demon Antakasura in this place. Anthakara means Ignorance. Once Goddess Parvathy closed the eyes of Lord Siva ,due to which the whole Universe was filled with darkness. Demon Anthakara came out of the darkness. Lord Siva hit, Demon Anthakara on his head with the club in his hand. Blood drops that fell on ground turned to be a Demon. Goddess Parvathy started collecting the blood in a bowl. The blood that fell down became 8 vertical and 8 horizontal lines cross wise and formed into 64 squares. Lord Siva created 64 Bairavas with His power for 64 squares to prevent the production of Demons further. Thus Devas were blessed by Lord. Thus Vastu sastra started from this place. Lord Siva is considered residing here with the powers of Bairava.

Lakshmi Narashimar Temple, Atthili, Vizhupuram.

Lakshmi Narashimar Temple: Atthili, Vizhupuram.



The place Atthili is about 2 kms from Araganda Nallore which is in-between Vizhupuram and Thirukoiloore (30 kms distance) on the bank of River Pennai.








The temple is small one with main sanctum. Pooja is performed according to Panchrathra Agamam.



Sthala Vruksham is Bodhi Vruksham.




Main Deity here is Lakshmi Narashimar. The main sanctum is constructed on a Garuda shaped Rock.




Sri Vyasarajar of Madhva Siddantha Mahan visited this place hearing the glory of the temple. Purana says in his next birth he wasHis Holiness Sri Ragavendra of Madhava Peetam. He stayed in this place and worshiped Lord Narashimar. Anjaneyar in separate sanctum was installed by His Holiness Sri Ragavendrar.




The Purana says in Narashimar avatharm, Lord Vishnu had to rescue his devotee Prahladha with out much delay. He had to be present in everything, to make the words of Prahlada come true.Lord Vishnu did not wait for Garuda his Vahan.




Garuda was unhappy and he went in search of Lord Vishnu. He could not find Lord Narashimar. Finally Garuda reached Atthili where he started his penance on a rock. His penance was so severe; heat generated due to this was felt in Kailash and Vaikundam also.Devas approached Lord Vishnu to protect them. Lord Vishnu appeared before Garuda and blessed him. Lord Vishnu granted boons to him. Garuda wanted Lord Vishnu to bless him in the form of Narashimar. He requested Lord Narashimar to stay back and protect mankind in the same way as he did for Prahladha.



This is the reason for the rock to be in the form of Garuda and Lord Narashimar is seen here with Lakshmi Devi on his lap.




Stone inscription it is believed, during the boom period of Vijayanagr Samrajyam, 300 Madva families of Vedic Pandits resided here.

Siddhalinga matam, Devara Vaippu Sthalam, Vizhupuram.

Siddhalinga matam: This place is one of the Devara Vaippu Sthalam.



The place is about 10 kms SE of Thiru koiloore on the south bank of River Penna.








The Raja Gopuram of the temple is of three tiers.







As we enter we see Dwajasthambam.








Main Deity is Swayambu Lingam known as Vyagya Padhar and his consort known as Neela Visalakshi Amman. The Swayambu Lingam came up under Kondrai Vruksham.



Other Deities seen in the temple are Vinayakar, Murugan, Dakshina Moorthy, Durgai, Natarajar, Chandikeswarar, Bairavar and Navagraham.







Temple Pushkarani.




Here in this place Vinayakar and Sundarar had discussion, hence Vinayakar is known as Vadhadum Vinayakar.



Vyagyapadha Muni worsiped Lord Siva here and was blessed by Lord. Hence, Lord Siva in this place is known as Vyagyapadhar.

Thiru Edaiyaru: Arulmigu Marundeesar Temple.




The place Edaiyaru is about 16 SE of Thiru Koiloore. The place is in-between River Malattaru and River Penna, hence the place is known as Edayaru.This place is one of Nadu Nadu Devara Sthalams




The place is known as Edayaru and the temple is known as Thiru Maruthanthurai.









The main Raja Gopuram is of three tiers with single Prakaram facing west.









Teertham is Chitridai Teertham in the form of well. Sthala Vruksham is Marudham.









Main Deity is Swayambu Lingam known as Arulmigu Marundeesar / Edaiyatru Nadhar with his consort known as Gyanaambikai Amman in standing posture is seen in separate sanctum.
















Other deities seen in the temple are Bala Ganapathy, Murugan, Durgai, Dakshina Moorthy, Nalwar, Saptha Kanniyar, Chandekesar, Navagraham, Agasthiyar and Suka Muni.





Bala Ganapathysanctum is seen in-betweem Lord Siva and Goddess Gyanambikaisanctum. NormallyLord Subramanya is seen in this form which is known as Somaskanda moortham. This is something unique. Bala Ganapathy is seen with four hands. He is holding Sweet and Jack fruit in his two upper hands and in one of the lower hand he is holding Sugarcane and the other one is in the the form of Abhaya Hastham.





Suka Muni, Brahma, Agasthiyar, Sundarar and Marai Gyana Sambandhar worshiped Lord Siva of this place. Agasthiya Muni installed a Siva Lingam and worshiped and he was blessed by Lord in this place. We see the Lingam worshiped by Agasthiya muni is known as Agasthiya Lingam. There is a sculpture of Sage Agasthiya in the temple. Lord Murugan of this place is known as Kaliyuga Ramapillayar. This is the birth place of Thiru Marai Gyana Sambandhar.










Sukabrahma Rishi worshiped Lord Siva in this place and attained Mukthi. We find Sukar statue under the Marudha Vruksham. We see lot of Parrots in the temple here.




Sthala Purana says A muni in the form of Parrot overheard Siva Rahyasam, while Lord Siva was preaching it Goddess Parvathy. The muni was cursed by Lord Siva to take birth on earth with parrot face. Muniworshiped Lord Siva and asked for solution to get out of the curse. Lord Siva said he would be born to Veda Vyasa as his child and asked him to worship him at Thiru Marundhurai/ Edaiyaru under the Marudha Vruksham. The Muni had the face of Parrot and hr performed penance as told by Lord Siva under the Marudha Vruksham of Edaiyaru. He learnt about Brahamam and attained Mukthi. Hence he was known as Sukhabrahama Rishi.There are about 18 Stone inscriptions are seen in the temple.

Arulmigu Vaikundavasan Perumal Temple, Thiruvennai Nallore, Vizhupuram

Arulmigu Vaikundavasan Perumal Temple: Thiruvennai Nallore.



The place is about 25 kms from Thiru Koiloore on the banks of river Pennai.







The main Raja Gopuram is of five tiers.







We see Garuda kambam as we enter through Raja Gopuram.



Main deity is Sri Vaikundavasan Perumal with his consorts Sri Devi and Bhoodevi Thayar. There is a separate sanctum for Janakavalli Thayar.



As we go around the temple we see Vishvaksenar, Venugopalan, Anjaneyar and Chandilya Muni.



Chandilya Muni worshiped Vaikundvasa perumal of this temple and attained Mukthi.

Thiru Vennai Nallore, Krupapureeswarar Temple, Vizhupuram.

Thiru Vennai Nallore: Krupapureeswarar Temple.



The place is about 20 kms SE of Thirukoviloore, to south of River Pennai. This is one of the Nadu Nadu Devara Sthalam.







The Main Raja Gopuram is of five tiers. There are two prakaram in the temple.






Nandi.




Sthala Vruksham is Bamboo. Teertham is Danda Teertham, River Pennai, Siva Ganga Teertham, Pandava Teertham, Vaikunda Teertham, and Veda Teertham.









Main Deity is Swayambu Lingam known as Krupa Pureeswarar / Atkonda Nadhar / Venu Pureeswarar and Arut konda Nadhar. His consort known as Magalambikai Amman in standing posture with four hands is seen in separate sanctum.









Ambaal sanctum




After Magisha Vadam, She bathed in the River here and was cooled down and she is known as Mangalambikai. Hence here we see Shima Vahanam instead of Nandi. Sri Chakkrm is installed here in the sanctum. Both sanctums of Lord Siva and Goddess are facing east.














Sundarar sanctum





We find sanctum for Vinayakar Known as Polla Pillayar, Subramanayar, and Sundrar sanctum in the inner prakaram. Vinayakar in this temple is Swayambu Moorthy, who taught the great Saiva Acharya Meikanda Devar when he was five years old.

As we go around we see3 Lingams. Vijaya Lingam worshiped by Arjuna, Sundara Lingam worshiped by Devandran and Sankara Lingam worshiped by Lord Vishnu.








Saptha Madhar.




Sthala Purana: During the period when Lord Siva took Aalakala Visham (poison) Goddess Uma Devi made a fort with butter from cow’s milk and performed Penance here in the middle of Panchagni, hence the place is known as Thiru Vennai Nallore.




Purana says the greatness of this temple is once Lord Siva took a form of old man and went for the wedding function of Sundarar. There he claimed Sundarar as his servant. Finally after lot of discussions he took Sundarar to his place Thiru Vennai Nallore.

Sekizhar describes in Periya Puranam how the disputes were settled judicially. There should three main things Aatchi (Tradition), Aavanam (Document) and Aayalar Katchi (Eye Eitness). Lord Siva produced a Document signed by Ancestors of Sundarar, as Eye Witness to claim Sundarar as his servant. Lord Siva won the dispute and took Sundarar to his home Thiru Vennai Nallore with Him. Here, Lord Siva left his padukas (foot wears) outside and entered the temple with Sundrar and when he reached Garba Graham (Inner Sanctum) he disappeared. Sundarar realized it was Lord Siva who has demanded his service in the form of Old man. Sundarar apologized to Lord Siva, for his ignorance. Lord Siva, asked Sundarar to sing his praise. Sundarar told with out knowledge how he can sing aboutLord. It was at this time Lord Siva asked him to sing Hymn starting with word Pitha (which means Lunatic). Sundarar sang Pitha Pirai Soodi which was his first composition on Lord Siva.


The Padukas of Lord Siva is there in the temple for darshan even now.



Sthala Purna says Tarukavana Rishi’s performed Yagna to destroy Lord Siva. Their evil thoughts were absorbed by Lord Siva and they were under His control. The realized their fault and penance here onLord Siva to forgive them and they were blessed. Hence, Lord Siva in this temple is known as Krupa pureeeswarar. Vedasperformed penance and had darshan of Lord in the form of Fire. Lord took the form of Swayambu Lingam to fulfill the request of Vedas.



Arunagiri Nadhar sang Thirupugazh. After hearing his Thirupugazh Lord Murugan of the temple gave darshan to Arunagiri Nadhar in dancing form with his peacock







At the end of the road we see Meikandadeva Nayanar Temple of Thiruvavadu Thurai Aadeenam.

Gramm, Siva Loka Nadhar Temple, Vizhupuram.

Gramm: Siva Loka Nadhar Temple. This is one of Nadu Nadu Devara Sthalam.


The place Gramam is about 23Kms NE of Ulundoorpettai on the south bank of Malataru.







The Raja Gopuram is of five tiers. There is only one prakaram



The sanctums of Lord Siva, Ambal and Subramanyar are in Somaskand form. Subramanyar sanctum is in-between Lord Siva and goddess

Sthala Vruksham is Vanni. Teertham known as Brahma Teertham







Main Deity is Swayambu Siva Lingam known as Arulmigu Sivaloka Nadhar/ Mundeesurar, with his consort Known as Kanaar Kuzhali / Soundara Nayaki in different sanctum.












Other Deitiies seen, while we go around the prakaram are Vinayakar sanctum, Murugan sanctum, Natarajar, Dakshina Moorthy sanctum, Iyanar, Duragai.








Saptha Madhar, sanctum and Navagraham. Vinayakar is known as Varasiddhi Vinayakar.







Dakshina Moorthy here is seen seated on Nandi, on a mountain. Here kallala maram is missing




Sthala purana says originally Lord Siva was on Lotus flour in pushakarani. Later The Siva Lingam was installed by King Chokkalingam in the temple.
Tindi and Mundi the Dwarapalakar of Lord Siva worshiped here and they were blessed.



Stone inscriptions mentions the name of the place was Mudicharamin olden days later the place is known as Thiru Mundecharam. It is mentioned the place was known as Gramam.in olden days.



Lord Siva offered a bag full of Vibuthi (Pokkanam) to King Veerapandiyan. Hence he is known as Pokkanam kodutha Nayanar.



Brahma and Devandran worshiped Lord Siva here in this place.Thiru Navukkuarasar sang Thiru Thondaga Thiru Padigam on Lord Siva.
