This is one of 275 important Siva Devara sthalam and Sakthi peetam. The place is also known as Gajaranya kshetram, and Appu sthalam.
The place is about 3 kms from Trichy, inbetween Kollidam and Cauvery.
Main Deity is Swayambu linga known as Jambukeswarar, and his consort Akilandeeswari amman.
Teertham is Cauvery, Brahma, Indra, Chandra, Rama, Agni, Agsthya, kollidam and Surya. Sthala Vruksham is Vennaval tree.
The deity is known as Jalakandeeswarar due to water springing down the Siva linga. Spider and Elephant worshipped Siva in this place hence the name Annaika.
ImportanceIn front of the main deity Siva we see nine holes and darshan through the hole is equal to dip in all 9 teerthams. Ambal worshipped Siva in this place so even now Archakas worship siva in the noon time wearing saree.
The earing of goddess is known as Thadangam. Sankaracharya controled her anger and placed it in the earings as srichakra. One is Siva chakkra and the other one is Srichakkra.
Sambandhar, Navkkuarasar, and Sundarar sang hymns on Siva of this place. Arunagiri nadhar sang thirupugazh on subramanya of this place
- Azagiya Singar temple:
The temple is near Srirangam railway station.
Main Deity is Lakshmi narashima Swamy in santha swaroopam.
- Adi Marriamman
The temple is about 16 kms from Trichy chatram bus stand. The place is known as Enam Samayapuram.
Main Deity is Marriamman.
Importance: The temple is a small one with two different sanctums of Adi marriamman in one compound. The idol in one temple is of Athhi maram. (fig tree). They don’t do abishekam for this idol. The other one is stone to which they do abishekam. This temple should be visited before you visit the Samapuram Marriamman of Kannanoore.
Story is previously the idol was in Ranganadhar temple of Srirangam, and it was removed from there and kept in this place
- Samayapuram: Marriamman temple.
The place is known as S.kannanoore,which is 15 kms from trichy bus stand.
Teertham is known as Mari teertham. sthala vruksham is Neem tree.
Importance: We see three Ganesha known as Itcha, Kriya and Gyana sakthi in one sanctum. The main idol is of medicinal herbs, so there is no abishekam for the deity. At the back of the main sanctum we see padam of amman. This is one of the sakthi peetam.
The temple is opened all through the day from 5am to 9pm.
